Question by donovansmami: Baby/toddler modeling!?!?
since my son was born, everywhere I take him people say, “he could be a baby model”, and I know he has a genuine shot. I know every mother says her child is beautiful, but I still wanna give it a try. I’ve done research and it’s really gotten me nowhere, and we really can’t afford to upfront pay agencies. Besides I was told by a model that you should never have to pay them, only the comission or w/e it’s called. I do not plan on making this a full time thing, just something to try, besides, he’s the biggest ham when he sees a camera or camcorder!!

Does anyone know of some legitimate child modeling agencies that work w/ people all over or are local in Maryland.?

I had the same comments made to me about my kids looking like Gerber babies and to try out for modeling. It will be a full time job in order to be successful if you choose to go that route. You will be going from audition to audition, and will have to travel occasionally. It will also only work if your child is very sociable. Its a gruesome business, so do plenty of research to make sure you and your son are up to it. Send in pictures of your son to different baby magazines such as American baby and parents, they prefer to see natural pictures of kids being themselves. Most modeling agencies will require travel at some point to either New York or Los Angeles and everything will be at your expense until a contract is entered into, so be prepared for alot of expenses before income. If any agency asks for $ $ upfront besides your own personal expenses when getting started, then it may not be a legitimate company.

One of the biggest agencies is Ford Modeling which produces some of the top supermodels and also do child modeling, but they are based in New York, however they do have open casting calls regularly all over the country. http://www.fordmodels.com
