So-called “role models” for kids? Anyone else disgusted?
Question by Lia <3: So-called “role models” for kids? Anyone else disgusted?
I know I sound like a moany old woman but I’m actually only 18 and I’m no prude but I’ve recently become disgusted at the kind of crap is targetted at kids lately. Child stars are getting more messed up at younger ages and these so called “role models” are not carving out a very promising track for the kids of the future.
It started with the whole Bratz thing (the name says it all). This craze is simply introducing cattiness, materialism and social hierarchy to really young kids way before their time. These cake-faced creatures have not even an ounce of the innocence Barbie did.
Then we have child stars like Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical getting caught up in sex scandals with naked photos of them being released on the net! Not to mention a certain 16 year old girl who’s currently starring in a childrens show while PREGNANT.
I’m sorry but if this is how things are now, I dread to think what it’ll be like in 10 years.

Celebrities should not be role models for children point blank.

i think people shouldnt have celebrities as role models, but its hard when they are famous, everywhere, and trend-setters. if we limit the amount of media that we are exposed to (which is very hard to do now) people might be better off. i personaly think that some people over-dose on TV and lots of media comes to you through that; young children shouldnt whatch TV when thay are learning because it messes with the learning patterns (instead of them gathering the info gradually from a book, the tv and other electronics teach them in an unhealthy pattern)
