Why does our society respect sports people so much?
Like, whenever a sportsperson is caught cheating or doing something illegal (like Tiger Woods) he gets publicy shamed and told he is a “role model” and meant to know better…but all the man did was hit a ball with a stick!
I mean, why do we tell our children that sportsmen are Role Models when all they really do is hit balls around or run around? There are plenty of other people in the community we should encourage kids to look up too!

I never told them that. Media hype did.

They are considered role models because they are public figures that get a lot of media coverage. If you’re going to be in the spotlight, you had better behave. No one wants kids to think that bad behavior will be rewarded, that’s why they are made an example of.
